Eventually, the long wait which was stressing our Mauritian students who took part in the Cambridge school certificate (SC) for October and November 200 , was over today. How will be my results? This was the only question which was in the mind of every student who sat for the School Certificate (SC) 2009. And finally it was revealed to them on Thursday 28^th January 2010.

As from 13 30 hours, the officers of the Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES) started to distribute the results with all the rectors, who come from different regions throughout the island to collect the school certificate results for their respective colleges. By 14 00 hours, the results for school certificate 2009 were available to the students for almost all colleges in Mauritius. Some cried with joy as their school certificate results were really good. Whilst on the other hand, some cried with sorrow deep into themselves as their results were not as they were expected.

Last year, about 17,062 students participated in the Cambridge School Certificate (SC) exams 2009 in the months of October and November. According to the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES), the overall percentage pass for SC exams this year is only 77.77% which means that only students among these 77.77% will be eligible to go for HSC. This year again the percentage pass for girls was higher than the boys. The percentage pass for girls is 82.86 % and for the boys 71.93% with reference to the statistics gathered from the Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES).

In Rodrigues, 551 students took part in the Cambridge School Certificate (SC) 2009 and the overall percentage pass was 73.81%. Same scenario took place in Rodrigues also, the percentage pass for girls were higher than the boys which is 76.25% and 70.35% respectively.

Well one stress is over, but for those students who sat for the Higher School Certificate Exams 2009 are still in the dark. Everyone is eagerly waiting to hear the names of those who will be among  the 2010 Laureates of Mauritius. But the day is not too far as it is being expected to be out by the end of the first week of February.
