How to achieve maturity in essays??
«

Dear admin,
I would like to ask you something. My G.P tutor told me that my ideas for essays are relevant but they lack maturity.
Well, in the quest of maturity i found myself standstill. I do not know how to master that thing!!
Although i read newspapers and magazines, my grades are not still improving.
I'm happy that you are providing us with model essays. But sometimes i ask myself "when would i be able to write like them?"
Reading model essays and practicing them are not enough!
That thing which is called maturity emanates from oneself and personally i think that it cannot be mastered by just reading model essays.
However, i'm finding myself lost!!!! Can you guide please??

Hello
Our GP essays are here to guide students. They do not need to write such kind of essays to get an A.
U said it yourself...maturity emanates from oneself...it cannot be taught unless with great difficulty and with much patience and time. I will request you to show your essays to someone else and to get different views. I myself I used to get zeros (Os) in all my essays but finally got A in GP.

How education helps humanity?

Education is not the amount of information that is put into the brain. If education was identical with information, then the dictionaries would be the greatest sages and the encyclopedias the greatest rishis. Education can be taken as our general conduct at home and in the society and the skills we possessed. If young generations are not made aware of the importance of culture, tradition, religion, then the material comforts may lure them and shatter peace, stability and faith that all of us cherish so much.
The purpose of education has varied from time to time, but the accent has always been on the full development of the human personality. The main purpose of education is to draw out our potential capabilities, to stir our imagination and to teach us how to think. We should be able to approach and examine a problem on our own, investigate it and take our decisions independently. Education equips people with the basic skills and knowledge necessary for jobs and occupations. On a higher level, education imparts technical and scientific knowledge and skills for industrial advancement. Japan realised this a long time ago and today it is the most developed country of the world. Other countries such as Singapore and Indonesia are also trying hard to become industrialise through education.
Besides imparting knowledge and skills for producing occupations, education develops a man’s character and induce in him qualities of discipline, tolerance, compassion, truthfulness, non-violence, justice, forgiveness and contentment. This is necessary for peace and harmony in our country. I think that moral education is the best too, against crime.
Education makes people more conscious of what goes on around them. This make them more critical and they are not easily swayed by emotions, therefore education is a long-term solution to problems of subversive forces.
Education is the best way to solve the problem of overpopulation which is one of the worst problems in developing countries. Families should be convinced that the more children they have, the greater will be their burden. Education is the key to effective use of technology and information for the development of a country.
[This is just some ideas about education, its not a complete essay, 360 words]

Choice of essay

Is there any technique which can be used to correctly choose an essay title? There are rumours going about the fact that there are some essay titles which gain more marks than others.. But is that true??
, well, I believe that one can best write if he/she feels at ease with the topic chosen.. But, I still don't know whether there are titles which gain more marks!!

Hello
It is absolutely not fair and reasonable to say that some GP essays are more scoring than others. All essays, of course, carry equal marks.
The University of Cambridge is aware of the fact that HSC students are from a broad range of background including science, business, technical, languages, etc.. so in order to be fair to all of them, UCLES proposes a list of questions and expects that at least one will meet the needs and interest of students.
You are absolutely right to say that the student must choose the topic she is most comfortable with. If I can share my own experience, I was a science student, so I preferred to go an essay on scientific topics rather than something on banking which required knowledge in economics.
Choosing a topic in which you do not have much knowledge will inevitably lead to weak points and ideas in your essays. Well, to answer your question, we at Open Intelligence, we do not think there is any magic technique to choose the best essay title in a General Paper exam. Choose the title which you understand well and in which you have most knowledge and write back on what has been asked. Relevancy is where many students fails.
To become a good GP essay writer does not require the student to write an essay every week. Rather the student must read widely, i.e., on many topics. Do not constraint yourself too early like saying that I will do an essay on Mathematics and not on anything else. Then if no essay on Mathematics comes out, it would be difficult for you to get a good grade.
The paper itself is here to encourage students to go beyond their textbooks, as opposed to subjects like Mathematics or Accounting. Students can read from newspapers, magazines, websites like

...
Please do not copy our essays and pass it as your own. This is called plagiarism and is considered as a form of theft in the academic community. However, you can freely use our ideas and style but put them in your own words.

How to Write an Essay: 10 Easy Steps
«
Reply #8 on:
March 02, 2009, 03:05:56 AM »
Below are brief summaries of each of the ten steps to writing an essay. Select the links for more info on any particular step, or use the blue navigation bar on the left to proceed through the writing steps. How To Write an Essay can be viewed sequentially, as if going through ten sequential steps in an essay writing process, or can be explored by individual topic.
1. Research:
Begin the essay writing process by researching your topic, making yourself an expert. Utilize the internet, the academic databases, and the library. Take notes and immerse yourself in the words of great thinkers.
2. Analysis:
Now that you have a good knowledge base, start analyzing the arguments of the essays you're reading. Clearly define the claims, write out the reasons, the evidence. Look for weaknesses of logic, and also strengths. Learning how to write an essay begins by learning how to analyze essays written by others.
3. Brainstorming:
Your essay will require insight of your own, genuine essay-writing brilliance. Ask yourself a dozen questions and answer them. Meditate with a pen in your hand. Take walks and think and think until you come up with original insights to write about.
4. Title/theme:
Pick your best idea and pin it down in a clear assertion that you can write your entire essay around. Your theme is your main point, summed up in a concise sentence that lets the reader know where you're going, and why. It's practically impossible to write a good essay without a clear theme/title.
5. Outline:
Sketch out your essay before straightway writing it out. Use one-line sentences to describe paragraphs, and bullet points to describe what each paragraph will contain. Play with the essay's order. Map out the structure of your argument, and make sure each paragraph is unified.
6. Introduction:
Now sit down and write the essay. The introduction should grab the reader's attention, set up the issue, and lead in to your thesis. Your intro is merely a buildup of the issue, a stage of bringing your reader into the essay's argument.
(Note: The title and first paragraph are probably the most important elements in your essay. This is an essay-writing point that doesn't always sink in within the context of the classroom. In the first paragraph you either hook the reader's interest or lose it. Of course your teacher, who's getting paid to teach you how to write an essay, will read the essay you've written regardless, but in the real world, readers make up their minds about whether or not to read your essay by glancing at the title alone.)
7. Paragraphs:
Each individual paragraph should be focused on a single idea that supports your thesis. Begin paragraphs with topic sentences, support assertions with evidence, and expound your ideas in the clearest, most sensible way you can. Speak to your reader as if he or she were sitting in front of you. In other words, instead of writing the essay, try talking the essay.
8. Conclusion:
Gracefully exit your essay by making a quick wrap-up sentence, and then end on some memorable thought, perhaps a quotation, or an interesting twist of logic, or some call to action. Is there something you want the reader to walk away and do? Let him or her know exactly what.
9. Style:
Format your essay according to the correct guidelines for citation. All borrowed ideas and quotations should be correctly cited in the body of your text, followed up with a Works Cited (references) page listing the details of your sources.
10. Language:
You're not done writing your essay until you've polished your language by correcting the grammar, making sentences flow, incorporating rhythm, emphasis, adjusting the formality, giving it a level-headed tone, and making other intuitive edits. Proofread until it reads just how you want it to sound. Writing an essay can be tedious, but you don't want to bungle the hours of conceptual work you've put into writing your essay by leaving a few slippy misppallings and pourly wordedd phrazies.

It is the facts and figures that we use in our essay that triggers a distinction A. In this way the examiner will know how mature we are.

Maturity comes with the acceptance of responsibilities and not age. Maybe you should plan first your response, and then write an essay to explain your views on this issue. Be sure to support your position with specific points and examples.
