1. Measure the time for a wave to travel a particular distance, use a stopwatch
2. Measure the distance using a meter rule
3. Calculate the speed of the wave, v = s/t
4. Repeat this experiment for different values of t, take an average
5. Vary the depth and repeat the experiment
The distance should be sufficiently long to minimise reaction time errors.
Draw a well-labelled diagram of a ripple tank. This in itself carries 2 or 3 marks.
