1. Two wires suspended from a support and carrying loads
2. Micrometer screwgauge to measure diameter of wire before and after experiment
3. Measure length of wire before and after experiment
4. Apply a load to the wire and measure the new length and diameter
5. Repeat the experiment for different loads

(a) Safety goggles/screen in case wire breaks
(b) Diameter of wire in several places and find an average
(c) Endure that proportionality limit is not exceeded
(d) Use smooth wires with no kinks
(e) Ensure temperature of environment is relatively constant as this may influence the diameter or length of the wire
