One of the most fundamental support tools for people is to exchange messages and information.  This kind of interaction happens in any organization and includes telephone calls, meeting in corridors, messages scratched on pieces of paper, and so on.  It is important because it allows people to develop a perception of what is going on and what possible problems can influence their decisions.  Perhaps the best known set of electronic support systems for this purpose are electronic mail and the internet.  Internet is a world wide public network allowing global exchange of information.  There is now an increasing tendency to use computer networks to exchange information.  The simplest support for message exchange is known as electronic mail, or e-mail, where users simply send messages to each other.  The internet has now become almost a household name, with millions of people connected to its services as well as storing a myriad of information either as files or as part of the world wide web. This includes the ability to send electronic mail, a variety of news groups on specialist topics, as well as search engines to find information based on specified keywords.
